Welcome to the New Decade!
If you’re like us, December 2009 found your mailbox filled with more appeals than holiday cheer. Everyone from everywhere was tugging on your heartstrings with a bribe of labels, stickers, even a dime or a nickel. It was overwhelming.
Not your Democratic Committee. We wait for the New Year, a new beginning and ask for new resolve. Are you looking for a new direction for Bradford County? Looking ahead, who do you want to lead you? Who do you want to follow?
We are asking you to think what kind of progress for Bradford County and Pennsylvania you would like to see. Looking back and reviewing 2009 think about the issues that were important to you and how they were addressed.
We are pleased and proud of the work Mark Smith and John Sullivan have done for us as County Commissioners. They are superb listeners. We appreciate the work that Democratic Representative Chris Carney has done for this strongly Republican district.
We know that there will be a renewed effort by the Republican Party to block the Democratic goals of a strong, compassionate, people-centered government. We must be ready to stand our ground, face the opposition and be prepared to support our candidates this year.
Our goals are:
· Assure that our Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, and Lieut. Governor are elected.
· Present our party’s strength through participation in fairs, drives, civic functions, and the media. Increase, organize and invigorate our membership.
· Be constant watchdogs and hold politicians of all parties accountable to the will of the people.
Leonard Bernstein said, “A liberal is a man or a woman or a child who looks forward to a better day, a more tranquil night, and a bright, infinite future.”
